i've just been looking for the essay natalie portman wrote before StarWars Eps I came out... something they asked her to write abt her experience or feelings acting in such a 'legacy' of the movie world (or something like that), however, to my disappointment, i cant find it... oh well. the reason i mention this is because a few friends and i were talking abt StarWars today and sad to say, my recollection of n.portman's acting was unfortunately : disappointment.. =( perhaps it was the script? (hard as it is to say, i being a huge StarWars fan, but it sucked... "purple prose" as a reviewer in the newspaper said.. urgh) ... which then recalled the essay she wrote, to me... again, i was disappointed when i read it. it was technically good, but i felt it lacked (what to me constitutes any gd piece of writing) - soul. it was good in the sense like her grades are gd (she's a straight A student and her SAT scores are obscenely high!).... but it seemed a little too 'perfect', too well put-together, too mechanical...

then again... this is just my personal opinion! =) dissent all u n.portman fans out there... =))
